Welcome to Moncompu Temple!
The famous temple is called "MONCOMPU BHAGAWATHY KSHETHRAM. It is not enough if we say that it is the place where only the people of kuttanad take refuge in case of distress. People from far off places visit this temple to get the blessings of the deity.

The speciality of the temple is that rituals that take place in any Shiva Kshetram, Krishna Kshetram , Ayyappa Kshetram or any Devi Kshetram take place in this temple. In that respect it is a unique temple.
 
Moncompu Devi Temple
Moncompu TempleMoncompu, a naturally formed island, is a small village in kuttanad taluk in Alleppey district. It could be considered as the headquarters of the granary of Kerala.

The village is blessed by the Goddess MONKOMPILAMMA (Mankombill Bhagavathi). The legend goes like this, a timber merchant was transporting logs of wood through the river Pamba towards Alleppey.

It so happened that a log of mango tree got stuck into the shore and did not move. The merchant consulted the astrologers and found that the wood had the presence of Goddess Bhagvathi and decided to construct a temple, the place was then called as Moncompu (Derived from the Mango Tree).Mancompu Devi Temple

Monkombu Garudan Thookam is quite famous. The temple traditionally belongs to the Kulangara Namboothiri Illam and is now under Travancore Devaswom.

For the welfare of the devotees there she is with a crown depicting the able maintenance of the devotees and a sword in her hand to destroy the evils in this world. The famous temple is called "".
